Harmony Between Humanity and Nature

自然是生命之母，是人類賴以生存和發(fā)展的根基。人與自然是生命共同體。人類應該以自然為根，敬畏自然、尊重自然、順應自然、保護自然。保護自然環(huán)境就是保護人類，建設生態(tài)文明就是造福人類。

Nature is the mother of life, and the foundations for survival and development of humanity. Humanity and nature form a community of life. Human beings must revere, respect, accommodate and protect nature. To protect nature is to protect human beings, and to build an eco-civilization is to benefit humanity.

生態(tài)興則文明興，生態(tài)衰則文明衰。生態(tài)環(huán)境變化直接影響文明興衰演替。歷史教訓表明，在整個發(fā)展過程中，不能只講索取不講投入，不能只講發(fā)展不講保護，不能只講利用不講修復。人類只有遵循自然規(guī)律才能有效防止在開發(fā)利用自然上走彎路，人類對大自然的傷害最終會傷及人類自身，這是無法抗拒的規(guī)律。

Civilization thrives if the eco-environment is healthy, and declines if it deteriorates. The rise and fall of a civilization hinge on eco-environmental changes. Humanity must not take from nature without giving back, develop without protection, and consume without restoration. Only by observing the laws of nature can humanity avoid costly blunders. Any harm we inflict on nature will eventually return to haunt us. This is a reality we have to face.

中共十九大將 “ 堅持人與自然和諧共生 ” 作為新時代堅持和發(fā)展中國特色社會主義的一個基本方略，提出堅持節(jié)約優(yōu)先、保護優(yōu)先、自然恢復為主的方針，形成節(jié)約資源和保護環(huán)境的空間格局、產(chǎn)業(yè)結構、生產(chǎn)方式、生活方式，還自然以寧靜、和諧、美麗。中國主張要像保護眼睛一樣保護自然和生態(tài)環(huán)境，推動形成人與自然和諧共生新格局。

The report to the 19th CPC National Congress made achieving harmony between humanity and nature one of the 14 points of the basic policy that underpins the CPC's endeavors to uphold and develop socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. Acting on the principles of prioritizing resource conservation and environmental protection and letting nature restore itself, China will endeavor to develop spatial configurations, industrial structures, and ways of work and life, all of which are resource-saving and eco-friendly, so as to restore the serenity, harmony and beauty of nature. There is a saying in China that people should protect the eco-environment as they protect their eyes, and achieve harmony between humanity and nature.

尊重自然、順應自然、保護自然的生態(tài)文明理念

Respecting, Accommodating and Protecting Nature

生態(tài)環(huán)境是關系黨的使命宗旨的重大政治問題，也是關系民生的重大社會問題。中共十八大提出樹立尊重自然、順應自然、保護自然的生態(tài)文明理念。

Protecting the eco-environment is a major political issue related to the mission and purpose of the CPC as it is a major social issue impacting people's wellbeing. At its 18th National Congress, the CPC called on the people to respect, accommodate and protect nature.

尊重自然，是人與自然相處時應秉持的科學態(tài)度，即人對自然應懷有敬畏之心、感恩之心，尊重自然界的存在、再生和循環(huán)能力，而絕不能凌駕其上。

Respecting nature is a sound attitude to adopt. Humanity must revere nature and be grateful to nature, respect nature and its capacity for revival and circulation, instead of attempting to dominate nature.

順應自然，是人與自然相處時應遵循的基本原則，即人要順應自然的客觀規(guī)律，按照客觀規(guī)律推動經(jīng)濟社會發(fā)展。

Accommodating nature is a basic principle to observe. Humanity must follow the ways of nature and the objective laws governing economic and social development.

保護自然，是人與自然相處時應承擔的重要責任，即人向自然界索取生存發(fā)展之需時，應主動呵護自然、回報自然，保護生態(tài)系統(tǒng)。

Protecting nature is a responsibility to take. When taking what we need for survival, we should cherish and repay nature, and protect ecosystems.

美麗中國

A Beautiful China

美麗中國是生態(tài)文明建設的重要目標，也是實現(xiàn)中華民族偉大復興中國夢的重要內(nèi)容。中共十八大把生態(tài)文明建設納入中國特色社會主義事業(yè) “ 五位一體 ” 總體布局，明確提出大力推進生態(tài)文明建設，努力建設美麗中國，實現(xiàn)中華民族永續(xù)發(fā)展。這標志著中國共產(chǎn)黨對中國特色社會主義規(guī)律認識的進一步深化，表明了中國共產(chǎn)黨加強生態(tài)文明建設的堅定意志和堅強決心。中共十九大深刻指出，生態(tài)文明建設是關系中華民族永續(xù)發(fā)展的根本大計，明確提出從 2035 年到本世紀中葉，在基本實現(xiàn)現(xiàn)代化的基礎上，再奮斗 15 年，把中國建成富強民主文明和諧美麗的社會主義現(xiàn)代化強國。

A beautiful China is a major goal of the country's effort to build an eco-civilization. It is also an important part of the grand picture of national rejuvenation. The 18th National Congress of the CPC listed eco-environmental progress along with economic, political, cultural and social progress in the Five-sphere Integrated Plan as the goals for building Chinese socialism, vowing to promote eco-environmental progress, build a beautiful China and achieve sustainable development of the Chinese nation. This also showed the CPC's deeper understanding of socialist development and its firm resolution to build an eco-civilization. The 19th National Congress of the CPC stated that building an eco-civilization is vital to sustaining the Chinese nation's development. It set the goal of developing China into a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious and beautiful by the mid-21st century, after achieving basic modernization by 2035.

中國夢的實現(xiàn)不以犧牲環(huán)境為代價，在發(fā)展經(jīng)濟的同時，保護好生態(tài)環(huán)境。建設美麗中國，有利于中國的長遠發(fā)展，也將助推全球可持續(xù)發(fā)展，更有助于實現(xiàn)人類共同的夢想 —— 保護美麗地球、建設綠色家園。

The Chinese Dream cannot be realized at the expense of the environment. A beautiful China will not only benefit the Chinese people, but also promote sustainable development around the world. It will help with the building of a beautiful earth and a better homeland for all.
